The academician walks into eKontrol, talks to R&D Institute

On November 14 2022, Academician Li Jun and Professor Xu Xiangyang, the leading players in the automobile industry, walked into eKontrol and had a dialogue with Mr. Hao Qingjun, chairman of eKontrol and his research institute. Academician Li, Professor Xu, Chairman Mr. Hao, CTO Mr. Wang, Dr. Lu attended the "Roundtable Symposium of Ideas · Academician Face to Face" themed panel discussion.

Academician Li stated that, consistent with the development trend of the passenger car system, high-voltage platforms are also the inevitable direction of development for commercial vehicles. The voltage level to which the voltage can be increased is closely related to materials, technology, and other factors. Currently, the mainstream voltage platform is still 800V. eKontrol’s dual flatpin motor drive system has high power density and output power, which already has significant advantages in the future competition of commercial vehicle electric drive technology.

Professor Xu stated that in achieving the "Double Carbon" goal of energy-saving and emission reduction in commercial vehicles, new energy commercial vehicles, especially electric-driven powertrains for heavy-duty and mining trucks, should be developed in the direction of multi-gear, power shift, multi-power source, and extended range. The eDMT technology developed by eKontrol completely conforms to this trend and has a bright future ahead.

Academician Li shared his insights on "Exploring the Road of Carbon Neutral Technology Innovation in Transportation Equipment." He discussed the development direction of the commercial vehicle industry in zero-carbon energy, zero-carbon fuel, and zero-carbon power under the "Double-Carbon" context. He pointed out that compared to fuels such as gasoline, methanol, and biofuels, electric power, hydrogen power, and ammonia power have achieved true zero-carbon emissions and have become the three mainstream clean energy sources in the future. Therefore, the application of the three energy sources – electricity, hydrogen, and ammonia – in the electric drive system has become an important direction for technological innovation in zero-carbon power drive systems. Companies must enhance the diversity of their power technology and flexibly apply all three zero-carbon power systems that may have market competitiveness.

Academician Li said that eKontrol has already taken the lead in the industry in terms of electric drive technology and products, achieving impressive results. In the future, we should continue to research and innovate, develop and manufacture electric drive technology and products suitable for hydrogen and ammonia energy.

Dr. Yan Bin and Director Tang Fengkun, as well as the engineers of the R&D institute in eKontrol, sought advice from two senior experts in the industry on industry and technical issues.
